'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith resumes contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the thrilling final moments of his team's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles amid the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative strike from 25 yards, and his teammate immediately hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with supporters congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an extraordinary turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a upcoming match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that distance," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right defensive wing after they changed formation. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and attention just to remain competitive."

New Chapter

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across a couple of years at Orient and has quickly replicated that in Wales. At Orient he linked up again with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at his loan club from United. Then came a loan at League Two Salford City, before he departed his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that growth for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who are fighting to qualify for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the last several matches, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the local area in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Manchester United Experience

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I thought I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play men's football. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm aiming to be the following person out of the minibus and driving. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
